How to Break the Busyness Cycle for Moms

Everyone says they are busy these days. Life has a way of taking over our best intentions to slow down and savor the moments. Busyness looks different for everyone. Some people thrive on filling their days with enjoyable activities outside the home. Other people prefer to stay home and enjoy life within the quiet (or chaos) of their own four walls. There is a limit on the number of activities a person can squeeze into their schedule though. At some point, all of us will feel weighed down … [Read more...]

How to Balance Housework and Homeschooling

I'm one of those strange people who actually enjoys housework if I know that I can relax and enjoy my clean house after I'm all done. Throw in seven children and homeschooling and you'll find that I can barely keep one room picked up long enough to clean it. And that's if I can find the time to clean in between homeschooling, preparing meals, running errands and keeping track of my kids. (This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure here.) It took me several years to figure … [Read more...]

Gaining Control of the Game Cabinet

Our family loves spending time together playing games which means we have a lot of them. Storing all our games has been a challenge for years. Stacking board games on top of each other with card games tossed in usually leads to a crashing pile of games on the floor every time someone wants to pull a game out of the cabinet. {This post contains affiliate links.} My obsession with organization just couldn't stand it any longer! A few years ago I tackled our game cabinet and we've been … [Read more...]

Large Family Homeschool Schedule

How does a mom of many teach all her kids all those subjects while juggling a toddler? With a good schedule! At least, that's how I manage! There were several things I had to consider when creating our current schedule. Making sure someone was playing with the toddler at all times. (He can get into trouble fast!) Having older children do review work with younger siblings. (That leaves me more time to focus on teaching new concepts.) Finding ways to incorporate several (or all) of the … [Read more...]

Organizing Puzzles

Puzzles, puzzles everywhere! I've been trying to figure out the best way to store my children's puzzles for years! Boxed puzzles take up so much space and wooden puzzles are difficult for my little ones to pull out when they are stacked on top of each other. I took some time this summer to reorganize a closet in our home and used it as an opportunity to tackle our puzzle problem as well! Here is what I came up with. I used four file trays to stack wooden puzzles. I was able to get 3 or 4 … [Read more...]

Mom, Can I Watch TV? {Free Printable}

Between 3 months of bed rest and having a new baby at home, TV viewing has increased significantly in our house. We went from watching 1 hour of television (via Netflix or DVD's) each WEEK to watching several hours each DAY! That's a huge increase in screen time for our family. The kids have gotten into the habit of expecting to watch television on a daily basis and the "Can I watch TV?" question is starting to drive me crazy so I decided to put together a little poster to help us get our … [Read more...]

Freezer Meals and Snacks

I spent last Saturday in my kitchen preparing meals and snacks to freeze for those busy homeschool days when I don't have the time or the energy to prepare meals for my family. I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am when I can pull out a homemade meal from our freezer instead of stressing out about getting dinner on the table with all the other tasks I have to juggle! I usually make a double batch of whatever we are having for dinner (if it freezes well) so that we can eat one and … [Read more...]

Tackling the Laundry with Little Ones

Little ones bring joy and craziness to life. It can be difficult to to get household chores done while chasing after toddlers and preschoolers. When my children were all little, I had to set aside one day to tackle the laundry. (This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure here.) Now my older kids are mature enough to have their own jurisdictions. That means I handed off my laundry duties to my oldest daughter! Here's how I tackled the laundry when I had a bunch of little … [Read more...]
