This personal edition of the The Sing! Hymnal has been a wonderful addition to my morning devotional time. It’s small enough to keep with my Bible and easy to pull out each morning. I enjoy reading through a hymn after spending time in Scripture and prayer, and throughout the day, I often find myself “singing” the hymn in my heart and mind as I go about my daily tasks.
As someone who can’t read music, I especially appreciate this personal edition. It would make a thoughtful gift for Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or a birthday. It would also be beautiful to leave out on a coffee table or end table. I find myself picking it up often and flipping through the hymns, even when I’m not intentionally using it for my devotional time.
The hymns are organized by categories and topics, such as “The Providence of God,” “The Work of Christ,” “Hymns for Little Children,” “Evangelism & Mission,” “Christmas,” and more. This makes it easy to find a hymn that connects with what I’ve been reading in Scripture or with something God is teaching me. I’ve really enjoyed having this little hymnal close at hand and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves hymns and wants to incorporate them more regularly into their devotional life.
